I spoke with Jason Cheffetz’s personal secretary today and got something clarified- while we can certainly call and express our concerns, the oversight committee DOES NOT investigate private citizens and cannot take legal or investigative actions against Donald Trump since he is not yet a government official. If there is some concern, a report filed or a law broken- once Trump takes office, THEN the oversight committee gets involved.
That said- keep this information on hand for after the inauguration so you can express concerns to the committee about the- then- President.
Congresswoman Katherine Clark has introduced legislation to ensure that U.S. Presidents are required to resolve any conflicts of interest with regard to financial interests and official responsibilities.
Call Jason Chaffetz, Chairman of the House Oversight Committee (202-225-7751 or 801-851-2500) to request a review of President Elect Donald Trump’s many conflicts of interest and potentially disqualifying associations. If the mailboxes are full, call again tomorrow- and the next day!
