Mayor Parisi Responds to Pressure on Becoming a Sanctuary Township

Nearly 2 1/2 months after Mayor Robert Parisi made a statement about becoming a sanctuary township, he has released this video furthering his opposition to the idea. While neighboring towns, including South Orange, Maplewood and Montclair, have created declarations and fair and equal policing directives, Mayor Parisi feels that it is not the responsibility of his office to support a similar action.

Several local organizations continue to help educate the community on immigrants’ rights, appeal to the town council and encourage the mayor’s office to reconsider it’s stance.
